2011: half-marathon PR, marathon PR, Boston qualifier

I rededicated myself to exercising about 3 years ago. While not overweight at this time I had let myself get out of shape and become soft. As my physical fitness improved I participated in various 5Ks, 10Ks, and a couple of sprint triathlons. But I needed a new challenge. I decided my goal would be to run a marathon.

Like many new to the sport of marathon I made many mistakes in my training. I over-trained, had no planned recovery, and no speed or elevation variation in my training regimen. This led to plantar fascitis, various aches and pains, and finally to a stress fracture in my foot. That is when I decided to get smarter about what I was doing. I joined the Columbia Multisport Club and was directed to Joe Company for his coaching expertise.

Since I began working with Joe I have learned a great deal. My running form has improved, I feel better, and I have experienced no injuries. Joe has tailored a training plan to my unique needs and capabilities. Joe employs state of the art instrumentation and metrics to analyze my body and workout routines so that I am able to optimize my training sessions. I have set PR’s in both my ½ and full marathon times. I have also qualified for the Boston marathon. Joe has made a significant impact to the betterment not only of my running times but also to my overall physical fitness.
