I designed this course in response to the growing need for self-paced online instruction. Our endurance training journey is no different than learning a new skill. We need good information presented in a clear, concise manner.

This is the product of my experience as an athlete, a coach, and a teacher.

The catalyst for this has been the challenges we all are currently facing this year.

The “glue” that held us together has dissolved. Our races are cancelled. Our camps are cancelled. Our group training is on hold.

Many of the things that helped us stay fit, motivated, and healthy are gone.

So… I went back to the basics.

This is the product of my deep dive into what WORKS. I call upon my 30-years of experience as an elite level athlete, an academic researcher, and professional coach.

I want to provide you with insight into how I construct a lifestyle that maximizes health, fitness, and performance.  The information contained in this course are a manifestation of years of study, experimentation, trials, errors, successes, and failures. I wanted to provide insight that I wish I had back when I was learning about endurance sports. My hope is that you use this information as a guide as you build your own program, or you are interested enough in the concepts that you want to learn more.

The course, Back2Basics, provides the WHY and HOW of “training plans.” Once you understand the WHY and HOW, I present a sample 4-week training plan.

As you progress beyond the Back2Basics course, I let you in on A LOT of insights I’ve gained over the past 30 years of being a student of life. I present this information in tandem with training programs, so not only do you have a chance to learn but also practice!

These concepts describe exactly how I approach my training and my athletes’ training. It worked for me. It worked for my athletes. It will work for you!
