Why are transitions important? Well, an efficient, speedy transition ensures you move smoothly and effectively from the swim to the bike and from the bike to the run, AND good transitions can be the difference between being ON or OFF the podium.
I have won three races because I transitioned better than 2nd place. True story. If you add up the swim, bike, and run times, I would have placed 2nd. But in all three cases, I won because I transitioned faster. Remember, triathlon isn’t about who can swim and bike and run fastest, it’s about who can put all three together the fastest. Transitions are a critical part of this equation.
