Vulnerability: The key to a breakthrough?

Below are a few thoughts that were inspired by the C.S. Lewis quote at the top of this post.

We are all human. We all have fears, desires, strengths, weaknesses. When we put down the defenses and peel back the layers, we often find that we are more alike than different.

My best relationships are based on a level of trust and vulnerability shared between people.

I find that when I open up to trusted people, I gain tremendous insight and strength in my own journey.

I find that I can be an asset to others when I listen and allow them to express their vulnerabilities to me.

My hope is that the ECo community feels open and ready to share and contribute.

On this note, I’m going to begin sharing insights into my journey back into training in 2018. This will be presented in a special blog section on the login page and a special value to Team ECo members.

My intent is to teach, lead by example, and allow myself to be vulnerable to you as I openly share my experiences as I attempt to train seriously for the first time since 2010. My ultimate goal is that YOU gain something from this, whether it be a new mindset on training and racing, a different perspective on life, or motivation to get out and do something different.

To bring this back to the C.S. Lewis quote, I hope to re-introduce myself to you in a way that you can say, “What? You too? I thought I was the only one.”
